Islamabad, May 4, 2025: A fierce rainstorm swept across lower Sindh on Saturday night, plunging Hyderabad, Tando Allahyar, and Tando Muhammad Khan into darkness as power feeders failed under the strain.
140 power feeders tripped in Hyderabad alone, causing major outages that extended into the night.
The storm hit hard across multiple districts, including Jamshoro, Kotri, Thatta, and Sujawal, bringing heavy rains, dust, and powerful winds.
Tragic incidents followed: rooftop collapses, falling solar panels, and crumbling walls left at least one person dead and eight others — four of them children — injured.
Several mud huts in Jhimpir, Thatta, caught fire due to the strong winds, burning three motorcycles and belongings to ashes.
In Sujawal’s Daro area, the storm ripped apart dozens of homes, leaving residents injured and forcing many into local health centers for emergency care.
Despite ongoing efforts, electricity had not been restored in many regions by the time of reporting, highlighting the fragility of local infrastructure under extreme weather.
