Islamabad: Wärtsilä, a Finnish company investing in Reko Diq also wants to expand its projects in oil and gas exploration, mineral development, and renewable energy initiatives.
Alexandre Eykerman, Regional Director for the Middle East at Wärtsilä, met with to explore avenues for enhanced cooperation in the energy sector met with Ali Pervez Malik Minister for Energy, Petroleum.
Wärtsilä, a leading Finnish corporation recognized for its smart technology and sustainable energy systems, is actively participating in Pakistan’s energy development, including involvement in the Reko Diq mining venture as well as various power generation projects across the country.
During the discussion, both parties emphasized deepening bilateral relations in areas including oil and gas exploration, mineral development, and renewable energy initiatives.
Special focus was placed on leveraging Finland’s technological expertise in biomass energy and evaluating the strategic relocation of existing gensets to Jhimpir to complement the region’s growing wind energy infrastructure.
Minister Malik reiterated Pakistan’s strategic focus on energy sector modernization and expressed appreciation for Wärtsilä’s innovative energy solutions that align with Pakistan’s goals of improving efficiency and minimizing environmental impact.
