Islamabad, 6 May, 2025: The Sindh Police have announced plan to introduce a digital e-challan system in Karachi, aimed at enhancing traffic management and ensuring roads safety.
Inspector General of Police (IGP) Sindh, Ghulam Nabi Memon, chaired a senior-level meeting at the Central Police Office on Monday.
The meeting focused on restructuring and modernizing the traffic management framework across the province.
During the session, traffic department officials gave a detail briefing on road accidents and proposed measures aimed at reducing such incidents.

One key development is the planned launch of the E-Challan system, allowing fines to be issued electronically and sent directly to the violators’ residences, removing the need for direct contact.
“This initiative will not only simplify the process for citizens but also promote fairer enforcement of traffic lrules,” IGP Memon stated. He also mentioned the procurement of updated tools such as radar devices and speed-detecting equipment to better identify and track speeding vehicles.

Additional IG Karachi, Javed Alam Odho, highlighted ongoing coordination with relevant stakeholders and government bodies to ensure the seamless rollout of the traffic reforms. “Traffic officers represent the department, and improving their operations is crucial,” he said.
IGP Memon also stressed the need for improved working conditions for officers serving in extreme weather and called for the placement of trained, public-friendly personnel on city roads.
Other future plans include establishing driving schools and improving vehicle inspection standards, both aimed at building a safer and more efficient traffic system throughout Sindh.
