Islamabad: The key stakeholders from automotive sector, including major industry players such as Honda, Toyota, Suzuki, Kia, Hyundai, Yutong, and Sazgar, among others, held a discussion on critical issues impacting the sector, including tariff structures, the upcoming federal budget, regulatory duties, and the need for consistent long-term policies.
The Government of Pakistan has reiterated its strong commitment to revitalizing the country’s automotive industry during a high-level meeting between Special Assistant to the Prime Minister (SAPM) Haroon Akhtar Khan and senior representatives of the Pakistan Automotive Manufacturers Association (PAMA).
The meeting brought together key stakeholders from the automotive sector, including major industry players such as Honda, Toyota, Suzuki, Kia, Hyundai, Yutong, and Sazgar, among others.
Discussions centered around several critical issues impacting the sector, including tariff structures, the upcoming federal budget, regulatory duties, and the need for consistent long-term policies.
In his remarks, Haroon Akhtar Khan reaffirmed the government’s commitment to strengthening the domestic automotive industry, recognizing it as a key driver of economic growth, job creation, and technological advancement.
He emphasized that the Prime Minister’s vision prioritizes the promotion of electric vehicles (EVs) as part of a broader strategy to transition towards a more sustainable and energy-efficient transportation system.
“The government is determined to provide all possible support to local manufacturers,” said Khan, adding that every effort will be made to resolve the challenges faced by the sector.
He reiterated that long-term sustainability and industrial development remain central to the government’s economic agenda.

He further acknowledged the concerns raised by industry leaders and assured them that the government is not only aware of the issues but is also actively working to address them.
In a significant move, PAMA was instructed to work closely with the Ministry of Industries and Production to develop a comprehensive proposal outlining the sector’s challenges and priority areas for reform and investment.
