Islamabad, 6 May 2025: Blue Line Metro developments have inspired renewed momentum for Lahore’s urban transit overhaul, as Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has instructed authorities to begin groundwork for the Yellow Line mass transit initiative without delay.
The decision came during a senior-level meeting on Tuesday, where officials presented a feasibility report outlining the proposed Yellow Line route stretching from Jinnah Terminal to Harbanspura.

In recent months, there has been increasing emphasis on revitalizing Punjab’s mass transit framework.
The government aims to replicate the model of successful operations like the Blue Line Metro, which has become a benchmark for efficient urban mobility within the region.
Experts suggest that a well-planned public transport grid could significantly cut commute times, lower carbon emissions, and promote equitable access to urban opportunities, especially in densely populated areas.
As the province moves forward with its transit expansion plans, officials are expected to provide periodic updates and engage with stakeholders to ensure smooth implementation and widespread public support.
