Islamabad: In the National Security Committee (NSC) convened under the leadership of Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif, the Armed Forces of Pakistan have duly been authorized to undertake corresponding actions in this regard.

In consonance with Article-51 of the UN Charter, Pakistan reserves the right to respond, in self-defence, at a time, place, and manner of its choosing to avenge the loss of innocent Pakistani lives and blatant violation of its sovereignty, says the NSC statement.

The National Security Committee (NSC) convened under the leadership of Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif to deliberate on the grave national security implications following India’s unprovoked and unlawful military aggression.

The session commenced with a prayer for the innocent civilians martyred in the attacks and extended sincere condolences to the bereaved families, while wishing a swift recovery for the injured.

The committee was briefed on the coordinated missile, drone, and air strikes launched by the Indian Armed Forces during the night of May 6/7, targeting various civilian areas in Sialkot, Shakargarh, Muridke, Bahawalpur, and parts of Azad Jammu and Kashmir including Kotli and Muzaffarabad.

These attacks, falsely justified on fabricated claims of terrorist camps, resulted in the tragic loss of innocent lives and damage to public infrastructure, including mosques.

Notably, India endangered international civil aviation, including flights from friendly Gulf nations, and deliberately struck the Neelum-Jhelum Hydropower Project in contravention of global conventions.

The NSC categorically condemned these aggressive actions as clear violations of Pakistan’s sovereignty and international law, labelling them acts of war.

The deliberate targeting of civilians, including women and children, was denounced as barbaric and inhumane.

Pakistan has consistently rejected India’s baseless allegations regarding terrorist camps and had extended an offer for a transparent, neutral investigation following the April 22 incident—an offer that India declined.

On May 6, international journalists visited the locations India falsely accused of harboring militants, with further visits planned.

In a desperate move to avoid exposure of its deceit, and lacking any credible evidence, the Indian government chose to strike civilian targets—an action driven by internal political motives and devoid of moral or legal justification.

India’s reckless escalation has once again destabilized the region. The NSC made it clear that the consequences of this aggression rest solely with New Delhi.

In defense of Pakistan’s sovereignty and in accordance with the NSC’s prior directives, the Armed Forces responded decisively.

Pakistan’s military successfully repelled the attacks and downed five Indian aircraft and drones, demonstrating the nation’s readiness and resolve.

Under Article 51 of the United Nations Charter, Pakistan retains the right to self-defense.

The Armed Forces have been granted full authority to respond at a time and in a manner of their choosing to avenge the unlawful loss of Pakistani lives and restore deterrence.

The committee also called on the international community to take serious note of India’s blatant violations of international law and to hold it accountable for endangering regional peace and stability.
