Islamabad, May 7, 2025:In a powerful response to the tragic Indian missile strike that claimed at least 26 civilian lives in Pakistan, top Pakistani actress Mahira Khan has condemned the attack and criticized India’s ongoing narrative of hostility.
Her emotionally charged statement, now viral on social media, has stirred debate across borders as she called for peace amidst escalating Indo-Pak tensions.
The Indian missile strike in Pakistan, which occurred in the early hours and targeted civilian neighborhoods, has resulted in the deaths of 26 innocent people, including women and children.
The unprovoked aggression has sparked widespread outrage both within Pakistan and internationally. Global human rights organizations have also expressed concern over the blatant violation of humanitarian norms.
Amid the public grief, Mahira Khan took to X (formerly Twitter) to voice her anger and heartbreak:
“I am grateful that I live in a country where I am not dictated to say what I have to. I have a voice and I CAN use it,” she said. “We speak up when there are injustices in our own land. We condemn violence wherever it happens—even when my country Pakistan is instantly blamed without ANY evidence.”
Her remarks echo the growing demand in Pakistan for justice and global accountability.
The missile strike by India on Pakistan is being seen as yet another example of unchecked militarism, deepening an already fragile relationship between the two nuclear powers.
Mahira, known for her humanitarian stance and social activism, further commented on India’s media and political silence during times of war:
“India, your war and hate rhetoric has continued for many years. I have seen and experienced it with my own eyes. Your media fans the flames of division. Your most powerful voices remain silent in the face of genocide and war crimes – silenced not by law, but by fear!”
She went on to label this silence as a “defeat,” arguing that failing to speak up in the face of violence is a betrayal of moral responsibility. Her words resonated with many Pakistani citizens who praised her bravery and clarity in the face of grief.

Rather than calling for revenge, Mahira ended her message on a hopeful, restrained note, urging peace over retaliation:
“My Pakistan, I love you. May we do the right thing. May we never stoop to that level even after this heinous provocation. May peace prevail. Ameen. Pakistan Zindabad. Pakistan Paaindabad.”
