Islamabad, May 8, 2025: In a landmark move under the direction of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif, the Government of Punjab has launched a 24/7 Control Room at the DGPR Office to tackle disinformation and provide citizens with verified updates.
This initiative aims to combat the rising tide of fake news by ensuring that authentic and timely information about government decisions reaches the public.
The control room, established as part of a broader transparency drive, will serve as the central hub for distributing official updates regarding Punjab Government policies, actions, and directives.
According to officials, this proactive step is a direct response to the growing concern over misinformation circulating across digital platforms.
Equipped with a dedicated team operating in three shifts, the control room will function round-the-clock to manage public queries and media monitoring.
Citizens can now access real-time, verified information by contacting the following helpline numbers:
042-9204486 | 042-99201363 | 042-36297014
Speaking on the development, a spokesperson for the DGPR emphasized, “The goal is not only to stop fake news but to foster a culture of informed citizenship where people rely on verified sources instead of rumors.”
This move mirrors global trends where governments have begun using centralized communication hubs to maintain credibility and public trust.
