Islamabad, May 8, 2025: Amid escalating tensions with India, the Pakistan Airport Authority (PAA) on Thursday announced the temporary halt of flight operations at Islamabad airport.
According to the official statement, air traffic Islamabad airport has also been suspended until 12 noon. The authority advised passengers to stay in close contact with their respective airlines for the latest updates regarding flight schedules.
This move comes in the wake of growing security concerns and fears that Indian military aircraft could violate Pakistan’s airspace.

Several international, mostly Asian airlines, have reportedly announced that they were cancelling and rerouting some flights after Indian strikes hit targets inside Pakistan, escalating the crisis between the nuclear-armed neighbours.
Flight tracking platforms showed a long line of airlines passing over Oman, the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Kuwait, raising the possibility of airspace congestion.
At the time of the Indian assault, Pakistani aviation authorities noted that 57 foreign flights were operating within its airspace.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s office said in a statement that India’s action “caused grave danger to commercial airlines” belonging to Gulf countries and “endangered lives.”
Earlier on Wednesday night, the PAA confirmed confirmed the nationwide reopening of airspace after the national airspace was closed for a few hours.
Pakistan had suspended flight operations at major airports following India’s attack inside the country on Tuesday-Wednesday night.
