The Sindh government is intensifying its efforts to ensure that businesses, including restaurants, cafés, and malls, provide electronic payment options for customers.
In a fresh move to promote consumer rights, authorities have issued stern warnings to businesses that refuse debit and credit card payments.
The Sindh Consumer Protection Authority (SCPA), part of the Bureau of Supply Prices, has already begun issuing notices to well-known restaurants in Karachi’s Clifton area for violating the Sindh Consumer Protection Act 2014.
These businesses now face legal action as authorities stress the importance of electronic payments in today’s digital economy.

This crackdown follows multiple public complaints from consumers, highlighting the inconvenience of cash-only policies.
The government’s action is being taken under Section 23(4) of the Sindh Consumer Protection Act.
An official inquiry has been initiated to resolve the issue and protect consumers’ rights.
Mir Shahnawaz, Assistant Director at SCPA, has ordered the immediate cessation of businesses refusing card payments.
