Islamabad: All resources will be utilized to reduce the financial difficulties of the poor and middle class, says the Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.

Prime Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif was chairing an important meeting regarding the preparation of the federal budget 2025-2026.

In the meeting, prominent business figures and experts from the private sector were consulted on the budget.

The Premier also said that the government and the private sector have to work together for national development and prosperity.

Giving relief to the common man is the top priority in the upcoming budget, commented the Prime Minister.

The Prime Minister’s instructions are to focus on export-based sustainable development in the preparation of the federal budget.

He also stated that work should be done on projects to promote industries and increase production.

Skilled Job Creation

It is the priority of the current government to provide vocational training to the youth and make them compatible with contemporary requirements, for skilled job creation, said the Prime Minister.

He also remarked that the special focus should be placed on creating new job opportunities while preparing the federal budget, said the Prime Minister.

The federal budget has given full attention to the sectors of agriculture, information technology, small and medium enterprises and housing sector, PM commented.

He also stated that these are in focus because there is immense potential in all these sectors: Prime Minister.

Promotion of projects under Public Private Partnership will be a government priority in the next budget, said the Prime Minister.

Prime Minister stated that the good news is that the government’s reforms in the power sector are yielding positive results. And now, reducing electricity prices for industries is an important step of the government towards promoting industry and production, Prime Minister stated.

Automation and digitization are being promoted to make the government system transparent, and with that it is to provide facilities to the business community and investors, said the Prime Minister.

Right Sizing

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif also said that the process of right-sizing to reduce the size of the federal government would continue in the next financial year as well.

In the briefing to the meeting, it was told that consultation with the private sector regarding budget preparation has been going on for the last three months.

Consultation sessions were held with stakeholders from various sectors of the economy regarding budget preparation, it was also briefed.

The meeting was conveyed that the five-year trade policy framework for 2025-2030 would be completed soon. Work on it is underway.

The e-commerce 2.0 framework is also nearing completion, it was told in the meeting. A plan of action is also being prepared regarding tariff rationalization.

A delegation of business figures and experts expressed confidence in the government’s economic policies and they gave their suggestions for the budget-making process.

The Prime Minister welcomed the suggestions of prominent businessmen and experts from the private sector and directed to include their feasible suggestions in the budget.

The meeting was attended by Federal Minister for Planning Ahsan Iqbal, Federal Minister for Economic Affairs Ahad Khan Cheema, Federal Minister for Finance and Revenue Muhammad Aurangzeb, Federal Minister for Commerce Jam Kamal Khan, Federal Minister for Information Technology and Telecom Shaza Fatima, Federal Minister for Power Division Sardar Owais Ahmed Leghari, Federal Minister for Petroleum Ali Pervez Malik, Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Industries and Production Haroon Akhtar and relevant senior government officials.
