Islamabad – 09 May, 2025: Australian cricketers involved in IPL have begun making arrangements to leave India or move to Dubai, according to reports from Australian media.
The developments follow the suspension of the IPL season due to escalating tensions between India and Pakistan.
Fifteen Australian players, including Test captain Pat Cummins, are currently part of the tournament.
Notable Australian figures such as Ricky Ponting and Justin Langer are also in India, working in coaching roles.

As the situation worsened, several players reportedly sought immediate travel options, with departures possibly beginning as early as Saturday.
Concerns over safety grew significantly after Thursday’s match between Punjab Kings and Delhi Capitals in Dharamsala was abandoned, leaving players unsettled.
The incident is believed to have accelerated discussions within the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), leading to a high-level meeting and the decision to suspend the tournament.
While the BCCI has yet to make a formal public announcement, franchises and key stakeholders have already been informed.
A senior official from the board admitted the seriousness of the situation, stating that it would be inappropriate to continue cricket during a time of national conflict.

Before the suspension, 58 matches had been completed in IPL 2025, including the abandoned fixture.
Twelve group matches remain, along with the playoffs, which were originally scheduled to be held in Hyderabad and Kolkata.
The board is reportedly considering a possible August–September window to resume the tournament.
However, that timeframe could interfere with India’s scheduled tour of Bangladesh and the Asia Cup, both of which are now at risk due to the unfolding regional crisis and strained diplomatic relations.
As of now, the future of IPL 2025 hangs in the balance, with players, organisers, and fans awaiting further clarity in the coming days.
The situation marks a rare interruption in one of the world’s biggest cricket tournaments.
