Islamabad, 10 May, 2025: The Group of Seven (G7) major countries on Friday urged India and Pakistan to exercise restraint and immediately de-escalate tensions, as hostilities rise, raising concern over regional stability.
“Further military escalation poses a serious threat to regional stability. We are deeply concerned for the safety of civilians on both sides,” stated Canada on behalf of the G7 foreign ministers.

“We call for immediate de-escalation and encourage both countries to engage in direct dialogue towards a peaceful outcome,” the G7 statement further emphasised.
Furthermore, U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio has been in regular talks with leaders in both countries.
In a statement issued on Saturday, U.S. State Department Spokesperson Tammy Bruce confirmed that Secretary of State Marco Rubio held a telephonic conversation with Pakistan’s Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Asim Munir.

Rubio also spoke separately with Indian External Affairs Minister Subrahmanyam Jaishankar and Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, emphasising the importance of communication and peace.
The discussion reportedly focused on the rapidly intensifying military situation between India and Pakistan.
The G7 countries is an informal group of seven major economies: Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, the UK, and the US. The European Union is also an active participant.
