Islamabad, 10 May,2025: BYD Launches Next-Gen residential energy solutions with the introduction of its fourth-generation home storage unit, the Battery-Box HVB, unveiled at the Smart E trade show.

The new system brings a major leap in performance, leveraging the brand’s well-known Blade Battery technology, now used for the first time outside the automotive industry.

The Blade Battery, which gained fame in BYD’s electric vehicles for its safety and thermal durability, has now been adapted for residential use.

Company representatives indicated that this move would significantly boost energy efficiency at home.

Improved Density, Compact Design

The new Battery-Box HVB reportedly offers a noticeable improvement in energy density. BYD stated that the unit achieves a gravimetric density of 108.8 Wh/kg a nearly 50% increase from its previous HVM version.

In terms of space efficiency, its volumetric density reached 162.88 Wh/L, marking a rise of over 139%.

The modular setup follows a familiar stackable system. Each module weighs 27.3 kilograms and delivers 2.97 kWh.

Between two and ten modules can be configured in a single stack, offering between 5.9 kWh and 29.6 kWh of storage. For larger needs, three stacks can be linked together, giving a total capacity of up to 89.07 kWh.

High Power, Future-Proof Features

The system can supply a continuous output of 25.6 kW and handle short-term spikes of up to 50.18 kW. With its IP55 rating, it is designed for long-term durability and diverse environmental conditions.

Although the company hasn’t yet revealed prices or full availability details, it appears the rollout will begin in Germany, where BYD already holds a strong position in the residential battery market.

HVS and HVM Upgrades Coming in 2025

Alongside the HVB reveal, BYD shared plans to update its current HVS and HVM models. These updated systems renamed HVS+ and HVM+ will include an improved battery control unit and a redesigned setup app for faster installation.

Experts believe that BYD Launches Next-Gen storage technology could tighten the synergy between its home and automotive battery systems, setting the stage for broader LFP adoption worldwide.
