In a heartfelt social media message on Monday, Kohli reflected on the emotional connection he felt with Test cricket, calling the format a teacher that shaped his career.

Sources revealed that Kohli had informed the BCCI of his plans before India’s upcoming five-Test series in England, which begins on June 20.

As India transitions into a new era, Shubman Gill is expected to take over as Test captain.
Kohli will now focus solely on ODIs, having also retired from T20Is following India’s World Cup win last year.
