Islamabad, 13 May, 2025: Pakistan’s Hamid Ul Haq delivered a remarkable performance at the MT400 Pattaya Championship.
He clinched the Men’s Seniors 60+ title after a thrilling run that culminated in a hard-fought final against top-seeded Zeev Livne of Israel.
The tournament took place at Greeta Sports Club in Pattaya, Thailand, from 27 April to 2 May 2025.
Entering the event as an unseeded player, Hamid overcame a challenging draw with grit and class.
He began by defeating a Thai opponent in the opening round with a commanding 6-2, 6-1 win.

His momentum continued into the quarterfinals, where he faced second seed Stan Aspiotis of Australia. Hamid outplayed the veteran with a dominant 6-1, 6-3 victory, marking a major upset.
In the semifinals, he came up against Japan’s Hikaru Yamamori, seeded fourth and known for his consistent baseline game.
But Hamid barely broke a sweat, winning 6-1, 6-1 in a display of authority and precision.
The final saw him take on Livne, the world No. 75 and tournament favourite, who had not dropped a set throughout the week.
Hamid took the opening set 6-4 through strategic placement and sharp footwork. Livne responded in the second set, using his power to level the match at 6-3.

With both players tied, the title was decided by a match tiebreak.
Hamid rose to the occasion, unleashing aggressive forehands and bold net play to seal the breaker 10-2, securing the title in style.
His win marks a proud moment for Pakistan in international tennis.
Reflecting on the triumph, Hamid hoped the victory would inspire others in Pakistan to believe in their potential, regardless of age or odds.
