Islamabad, 13 May, 2025: Rachel Accurso, best known as Ms Rachel from the popular children’s channel Songs for Littles, has said she felt morally compelled to speak out about the suffering of children in Gaza.

In an emotional interview with journalist Mehdi Hasan for his platform Zeteo, Accurso explained that witnessing disturbing footage of young victims left her unable to remain silent.

She said it was upsetting that calls to protect children could be seen as controversial, stressing that compassion for suffering children should cross all borders.

Accurso, who has consistently highlighted the plight of Palestinian children, noted that her concern was not limited by geography or politics — she simply cared about children wherever they were.

Reflecting on specific images from Gaza, Accurso recounted scenes that haunted her, including that of a terrified young boy who could not cry until comforted by a healthcare worker.

She also spoke about six-year-old Hind Rajab, whose desperate plea for help after her family’s car was attacked had left a lasting impact. Hind’s body was found days later.

The YouTuber grew visibly emotional when mentioning a rainbow onesie worn by a child in Gaza — similar to one owned by her daughter.

She said she had to give it away, unable to separate the images from her own life.

Accurso, who has over 14 million subscribers, said her platform was built on genuine care — something she believed children sensed and responded to.

That care, she said, extended beyond the screen and to all children in need.

Despite criticism from some groups, including calls for an investigation by Stop Antisemitism, Accurso said speaking out was not only the right thing to do — it was necessary for a better future for all.
