Islamabad, 15, May, 2025: New MSs have officially been appointed in 32 public hospitals throughout Punjab, marking a significant step in stabilising healthcare leadership across the province.

Among these, six major hospitals in Lahore have also received newly assigned permanent Medical Superintendents (MSs), reflecting efforts to strengthen management in high-volume medical facilities.

The Health Department issued the list of assignments earlier this week, aiming to address long-standing administrative gaps.

According to the notification, New MSs include Dr. Mohsin Shah at Jinnah Hospital, Dr. Amir Rafique Butt at Punjab Institute of Cardiology (PIC), and Dr. Abid Mahmood Ghauri at Services Hospital.

Dr. Saqib Bajwa has been appointed to the Mental Hospital, while Dr. Adnan Al-Qamar Kot will now lead Khawaja Saeed Hospital. Additionally, Dr. Subia Javed has taken charge at Lady Aitchison Hospital.

In regional appointments, Dr. Yadullah was transferred from the DG Office to serve at Sahiwal Teaching Hospital, and Rana Khurram was reassigned from Services Hospital to Sargodha Teaching Hospital.

Despite the progress, the report noted that two prominent institutions in Lahore Mayo Hospital and Gangaram Hospital still lack permanent MSs, highlighting ongoing gaps in key positions. The Health Department has not yet confirmed when these roles will be filled.

As the province continues to restructure healthcare leadership, New MSs are expected to bring improved oversight and operational efficiency to their respective facilities.

These appointments are seen as part of a broader strategy to ensure consistency in hospital administration and to improve service delivery across Punjab.

The appointment of New MSs comes at a time when the healthcare system is under growing pressure to meet patient needs efficiently.

While the latest assignments are a step forward, authorities have acknowledged that more work remains to ensure that all major hospitals are adequately staffed at the leadership level.
