Islamabad, May 20, 2025: Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) player Digvesh Rathi has been suspended for the team’s upcoming match against Gujarat Titans (GT) after an on-field dispute with Abhishek Sharma of Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) on Monday.
The incident occurred during the LSG vs SRH Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 fixture, when Rathi performed his signature “notebook” celebration after dismissing Sharma, triggering a tense clash between the two.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) imposed a fine equivalent to 50% of Rathi’s match fees, citing a violation of the IPL Code of Conduct during the game held at the Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow.
In addition, he received two demerit points for committing a third Level 1 offence under Article 2.5 of the code.
Digvesh Rathi Gets One Match Suspension
Digvesh Rathi had already accumulated three demerit points and this latest violation has pushed Rathi’s total to five, triggering an automatic one-match suspension.

As a result, the LSG pacer will miss the match scheduled against Gujarat Titans on 22 May 2025 in Ahmedabad.
Rathi had earned his first demerit point during a game against Punjab Kings (PBKS) on 1 April 2025, followed by two additional points during a match versus Mumbai Indians (MI) on 4 April 2025.
As per IPL regulations, the Match Referee’s verdict is final and binding in cases related to Level 1 breaches of the Code of Conduct.
