Islamabad, May 21, 2025: In a key move under the “Safe Punjab” initiative of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, the provincial Home Department has made it compulsory for all private guest houses to register with the government’s digital surveillance system, Hotel Eye, in a bid to tighten security and prevent crime across the province.
The decision has been taken to help law enforcement agencies monitor suspicious movements, identify suspects, and prevent incidents related to terrorism and illegal activities.
Guest data will now be collected in real-time and digitally verified through the Hotel Eye software, previously limited to officially registered hotels only. Bookings made through global online applications will also need to be entered into the system.

All guest houses, regardless of size or location, must be register on the government’s dedicated portal: hoteleye.punjab.gov.pk. Owners will be required to upload the personal details of all local and foreign guests using individual logins.
The Home Department has set June 15, 2025, as the final deadline for registration. Guest houses that fail to comply will face legal action under the Punjab Information of Temporary Residence Act 2015, officials said.

The Home Department has also launched an online portal to assist guest house operators in the registration process. According to officials, digital verification of residents will help identify criminal elements and strengthen the overall security framework.
A large number of domestic and international visitors stay at private guest accommodations in Punjab. Authorities believe that linking all such facilities to a central surveillance system will not only aid crime prevention but also reinforce public safety measures across the province.
