Islamabad, 22 May, 2025: Security Alert has been issued across educational institutions in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa following a deadly assault on a school bus in Balochistan.
The provincial government has responded swiftly by enhancing protective measures across schools, particularly in Peshawar and other identified high-risk zones.
The Security Alert was triggered after the recent blast near Khuzdar’s Zero Point, where a remote-controlled bomb planted in a roadside vehicle exploded as a school bus passed by.
The tragic incident claimed the lives of at least five people, including three schoolchildren, and injured several others. Authorities have confirmed that investigations are underway to identify those responsible.

The KP Education Department, in close coordination with district administrations and police units, has rolled out an emergency safety framework for all public and private schools.
Qaiser Alam, Special Secretary for Education, said instructions have been circulated to school heads and District Education Officers to immediately reassess and reinforce campus security.
The newly enforced plan includes several compulsory measures. All schools must now have fully functional surveillance systems installed at entry and exit points.
Additionally, it is mandatory to deploy trained security guards and ensure continuous monitoring through CCTV.
As part of the comprehensive Security Alert, students will also receive training on safety practices. Schools have been directed to conduct awareness sessions and prepare emergency response strategies.
Each institution must establish a rapid alert system and maintain a clear evacuation route to deal with any potential threat.

Qaiser Alam stated that a collaborative security strategy is being developed with the help of local law enforcement.
He reaffirmed the government’s commitment to utilising every resource available to secure the wellbeing of students and educators.
This Security Alert marks a critical step by the KP government to prevent a repeat of the horror witnessed in Balochistan.
By strengthening school security across the province, officials aim to provide a safer environment for learning while remaining vigilant against evolving threats.
