Islamabad, 24 May, 2025: Weather alert has been issued for several parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa as the province experiences a combination of rainfall and intense heat.
The Meteorological Department has noted that while showers have begun in various districts, dry and hot weather is likely to persist, particularly in the southern regions.
According to forecasts, Peshawar may witness light rain within the next 24 hours. Alongside this, a few spells of rain accompanied by gusty winds and potential thunderstorms are expected in scattered locations including Nowshera, Charsadda, Mardan, Dir, Malakand, Swat, Shangla, Kohat, Abbottabad, Haripur, Mansehra, Kohistan, and Battagram.

Despite the chance of rain in northern districts, the southern belt of KP remains under the influence of extreme heat. Cities such as Dera Ismail Khan (DI Khan) are forecast to reach a searing 45°C, making it one of the hottest spots in the province.
Similarly, the maximum temperature in Peshawar could soar to 44°C, with the minimum currently noted at 26°C.
In contrast, cooler temperatures have been observed in the mountainous areas. Kalam recorded the lowest temperature at 14°C, followed by Chitral at 15°C, providing some respite for residents and visitors in these high-altitude regions.

Authorities have issued a weather alert urging the public to stay hydrated, limit outdoor activity during peak heat hours, and take safety precautions during potential thunderstorms.
Sudden gusts and lightning could pose hazards, particularly in areas where infrastructure may be vulnerable.
Weather alert warnings continue to remain in place as both rainfall and heatwaves impact different regions of KP.
Experts are closely monitoring the situation, urging residents to keep updated with advisories from the Meteorological Department and local disaster management authorities.
