Islamabad, May 24, 2025: A sudden powerful storm accompanied by heavy rain hit Islamabad, causing disruptions across the city. Loud thunder and intense wind gusts were reported in various sectors, while hailstones damaged windows and rooftops in some areas.
Strong winds and thunder have added to the severity of the weather in Islamabad, roads became slippery and traffic was affected in many areas. Power outages is also observed in several areas.
Earlier today, the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) has issued a weather alert, warning of heavy rainfall, thunderstorms, strong winds, and possible hailstorms in Islamabad and across the Pothohar region. According to the alert, the affected areas include Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Attock, Jhelum, Chakwal and surrounding regions.
The NDMA has cautioned that dust storms pose a risk to fragile structures, rooftops, vehicles, and electrical infrastructure, while reduced visibility during storms may heighten the likelihood of road accidents.

NDMA further advised residents to park vehicles in secure, covered locations to ensure safety. Citizens have been advised to stay indoors, limit unnecessary movement, and take all precautionary measures to remain safe during the expected weather disturbance.

The NDMA further urged residents to stay informed through official updates and avoid travel unless absolutely necessary. Emergency services remain on high alert to deal with any situation arising due to the stormy conditions.
NDMA said it is closely monitoring the situation and coordinating with relevant departments to ensure timely response and public safety.
