Islamabad, 24 May 2025: At its grand 15th anniversary conference, Xiaomi unveiled a major leap in its technological journey by introducing its first in-house mobile chipset, named XRING O1.

This new processor marks Xiaomi’s bold entrance into the competitive world of high-performance SoCs (System on Chips) and has already outperformed Apple’s A18 Pro in several key benchmarks.

Developed Using 3nm Process Technology

The XRING O1 is built on TSMC’s cutting-edge 3nm architecture, integrating a staggering 19 billion transistors onto a 109 square millimeter chip. According to Xiaomi’s founder, Lei Jun, this places the XRING O1 among the top global flagship processors in the mobile industry.

The processor follows a 10-core quad-cluster design, which includes:

  • 2 ultra-high-performance cores (up to 3.9 GHz)
  • 4 cores for performance balance
  • 2 power-saving cores
  • 2 ultra-low-power cores

Initial benchmarks revealed by Xiaomi show the XRING O1 scoring over 3 million points on AnTuTu, with single-core results exceeding 3,000 and multi-core numbers crossing 9,500, reflecting exceptional performance.

Stronger GPU and Better Efficiency Than Apple A18 Pro

The graphics side of the XRING O1 is handled by the Immortalis-G925 GPU, featuring 16 cores and built-in support for adaptive performance scaling. Xiaomi claims this configuration offers superior power management and graphics performance compared to Apple’s latest chip, especially during longer usage sessions.

Thanks to this, the XRING O1 isn’t just suited for premium smartphones, it also holds potential for AR/VR gear and smart wearables, markets Xiaomi is actively expanding into.

A Strategic Step Forward

The shift toward in-house silicon should allow Xiaomi to optimize its hardware-software integration and reduce dependency on external chipset vendors. This move follows a growing industry trend where major smartphone brands pursue custom chip development to gain more control over performance, efficiency, and innovation cycles.
