Islamabad, 26 May , 2025: Eid-ul-Adha preparations have begun in earnest across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, as the provincial government has declared that all public sector employees, including pensioners, will receive their dues by May 30. The move comes as part of early arrangements for the upcoming religious celebration.

Salaries to Be Released Before End of May

As per an official circular issued by the KP Finance Department, relevant offices have been instructed to ensure the timely release of salaries and pensions.

The government decided on early payment due to June 1 falling on a Sunday, a regular non-working day, and to help citizens prepare for Eid-ul-Adha with ease.

Government sources indicated that the disbursement was aligned with the holiday season, which is expected to fall in the first week of June, depending on the lunar calendar.

Moon Sighting to Confirm Eid-ul-Adha Date

The Ministry of Religious Affairs has announced that the Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee will meet on May 27 in Islamabad to determine the beginning of the Islamic month of Zul-Hijjah.

The meeting, chaired by Maulana Abdul Khabeer Azad, will assess moon sighting reports to confirm the date for Eid-ul-Adha.

In tandem, regional moon sighting committees will hold parallel sessions in key cities across the country to collect visual testimonies and coordinate with the central body.

A spokesperson from the Ministry mentioned that if the moon is sighted on May 27, the festival will likely be celebrated on June 6. In contrast, if not visible that evening, the holiday will shift to June 7.

Astronomical Outlook Suggests June 7 Eid Likely

Meanwhile, an independent astronomer suggested that the moon is more likely to be visible on May 28, which could make June 7 the more probable date for Eid celebrations in most parts of the country. This prediction, however, awaits formal validation from the official moon sighting bodies.

Eid-ul-Adha preparations are now underway across the province, with the early salary release expected to ease financial planning for citizens during one of the most important Islamic festivals of the year.
