Islamabad, May 26, 2025: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has allegedly gave approval to the launch of Peshawar Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) project Phase 2, with an estimated cost of Rs. 20 billion. The expansion plan includes the construction of new dedicated routes and bringing in 50 new buses from China.
As per available information, Phase 2 will cover key routes will include Ring Road and Dalazak Road. The goal is to extend the BRT network and provide better transport facilities to residents of the city.
The decision comes at a time when two major buildings from the original Phase 1 of the BRT system have yet to be completed. Despite this, the government has allocated funds for the upcoming phase in the budget for the next financial year.

According to sources, 50 buses will be imported from China for new routes. These buses are expected to help ease traffic congestion and offer improved commuting services to the people of Peshawar.

Inaugurated in 2020, Peshawar BRT is one of the largest public transport project in the region. With Phase 2, the government aims to extend the reach and meet the rising need for reliable and affordable transport in the provincial capital.
