Islamabad, 26 May, 2025: Eid-ul-Adha preparations are underway across Punjab, with district authorities moving to regulate the collection of sacrificial animal hides.
In a recent announcement, the local administration confirmed that May 31 has been fixed as the final date for submitting applications for official permission to collect hides during the EidulAdha festival.

Eid-ul-Adha will see stricter oversight this year, following directives issued by the Punjab Home Department. Deputy Commissioner Dr Hassan Waqar Cheema has enforced a categorical ban on unauthorized hide collection, making it clear that only registered and verified welfare organizations will be permitted to operate.

The notification underlined that proscribed groups remain strictly forbidden from participating in hide drives, with law enforcement authorized to take immediate action against any violations.
Strict Measures and Legal Action
Dr Cheema stated that applications received after the May 31 deadline would not be entertained under any circumstances.
He added that individuals or groups found collecting hides without official clearance would face legal consequences under relevant laws.
In a statement, the Deputy Commissioner clarified that “collecting hides without the necessary approval will be considered a criminal act and violators will be prosecuted.”
Requirements for Permit Applications
To obtain the necessary permission, organizations must submit the following documents:
- A valid copy of the applicant’s CNIC
- The charity’s bank statement

Enforcement and Oversight
In preparation for EidulAdha, the administration has formed special monitoring squads tasked with cracking down on unregistered hide collection setups.

Even authorized charities must comply with specific conditions: no use of loudspeakers and no setting up of collection points on main thoroughfares.
EidulAdha regulations are part of a broader effort to maintain transparency, ensure public safety, and prevent banned outfits from misusing the occasion for fundraising.
Authorities have urged citizens and organizations alike to follow the rules to ensure a peaceful and well-regulated Eid.
