Islamabad, May 26, 2025: In a striking example of Punjab Police’s zero-tolerance stance, authorities in Khushab district have registered a formal case over the theft of four cold drink bottles worth Rs. 500 from a shop in the Islampura Eidgah area.

The unusual case sheds light on how even seemingly minor crimes are being addressed with full legal protocol in Pakistan.

The case was lodged after the shopkeeper dialed the police emergency helpline to report the theft. Responding swiftly, officials registered an FIR against an unidentified suspect and appointed an Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) to lead the investigation.

Interestingly, this isn’t the first time Khushab police have treated petty theft with such seriousness. Authorities recalled similar cases, including the reported theft of shoes valued at Rs. 1,000 and watermelons worth Rs. 3,000, both of which were registered and investigated with equal rigor.

Punjab Police officials reiterated that “crime has no price tag”, emphasizing that law enforcement is committed to addressing all illegal acts—regardless of the monetary value involved. The department aims to uphold law and order by discouraging even minor violations, viewing them as a gateway to more significant criminal behavior.

Criminal justice experts argue that the Punjab Police’s firm approach toward petty theft sends a strong message about accountability and deterrence. “Ignoring minor crimes creates a culture of impunity. Tackling these early is key to preventing larger offenses,” noted retired DSP Saeed Ahmed.
