Islamabad, May 27, 2025: Cristiano Ronaldo on Monday hinted that his time with Al-Nassr may be coming to an end, stating that a “chapter is over” just hours after the end of the Saudi Pro League season.

The 40-year-old Portuguese forward, had joined Al-Nassr in 2022 after leaving Manchester United. His contract with the Saudi club comes to an end this summer.

A special transfer window will open from June 1 to June 10, allowing the 32 clubs participating in the World Cup to sign new players.

Al-Nassr will not participate in this year’s Club World Cup, unlike fellow Saudi rival Al-Hilal.

FIFA president Gianni Infantino last week said “there are discussions” on whether the former United, Real Madrid, Juventus and Sporting Lisbon star will be playing at the enlarged tournament in the United States starting on June 14 or not.

Cristiano Ronaldo in a social media post alongside a photo of himself wearing an Al-Nassr jersey, said: “This chapter is over. The story? Still being written. Grateful to all.”

Last month, Al-Nassr were eliminated in the semifinals of the AFC Champions League by Japan’s Kawasaki Frontale and ended the Saudi Pro League season in third place.

In a statement last year, the five-time Ballon d’Or winner hinted that he might conclude his playing career at Al-Nassr.

Ronaldo’s longtime rival, Lionel Messi, is set to compete in the Club World Cup with Inter Miami.

In a recent interview with YouTuber and streamer IShowSpeed, Infantino said: “And Ronaldo might play for one of the teams as well at the Club World Cup. There are discussions with some clubs, so if any club is watching and is interested in hiring Ronaldo for the Club World Cup … who knows, who knows?”
