Islamabad, May 27, 2025: Famous filmmaker Karan Johar revealed the much-anticipated release date for his upcoming production, Dhadak 2. Starring Siddhant Chaturvedi and Triptii Dimri in the lead roles, the film is scheduled to hit cinemas on August 1, 2025.
Along with this exciting news, two captivating posters were shared, offering a glimpse into the film’s intense and thought-provoking storyline. The posters capture Siddhant and Triptii locked in a heartfelt embrace, set against a somber blue background.
The striking tagline, which translates to “If you must choose between dying and fighting… choose to fight,” hints at the film’s themes of courage and defiance. This suggests a powerful shift from the original Dhadak, promising a narrative that delves deeply into struggle and resilience.
The emotion visible in the visuals sets the tone for a film that seeks to explore its characters’ hardships with greater intensity.
Earlier in the year, Dhadak 2 encountered troubles with the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) due to its sensitive focus on caste discrimination. After thorough edits, the film was granted a U/A 16+ rating.

Changes included altering or removing dialogues referencing caste history, cutting a scene showing public urination, and trimming a segment involving a character’s father facing humiliation. The CBFC also required modifications to a poem recital and insisted on a revised disclaimer lasting nearly two minutes, which must be read aloud during the screening.

Dhadak 2 is a Hindi remake of the critically acclaimed 2018 Tamil film Pariyerum Perumal, originally directed by Mari Selvaraj. This project marks the debut of director Shazia Iqbal, who aims to shed light on caste-based social injustice through her storytelling.
Produced by Dharma Productions alongside Zee Studios and Cloud 9 Pictures, the film runs for 2 hours and 26 minutes and promises a gripping and socially relevant cinematic journey.
