Islamabad, May 27, 2025: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur has officially launched two flagship welfare initiatives — the Roshan Mustaqbil Card and the Sahara Card aimed at supporting orphans and widows.

A ceremonial event took place at the Chief Minister’s House in Peshawar, where CM Gandapur served as the chief guest. The occasion was also graced by Social Welfare Minister Syed Qasim Ali Shah, elected representatives, senior bureaucrats, and other notable personalities.

During the ceremony, the Chief Minister handed out Roshan Mustaqbil Cards to orphaned youth and Sahara Cards to widows. As per the official brief, the initiative offers a monthly financial assistance of Rs5,000 to children between the ages of 5 and 16 who have lost one or both parents. In its opening phase, around 9,000 children are expected to receive aid.

Similarly, the Sahara Card scheme will extend Rs5,000 monthly to widows aged 45 and above. The program will initially cater to 15,000 women. The disbursement will take place by the 5th of every month, with the first payment including Rs10,000 to cover both May and June, keeping Eid-ul-Adha in mind.

The selection of beneficiaries has reportedly been done through a merit-based, transparent process. Authorities have confirmed that registrations for additional applicants will begin in July, expanding the programme’s outreach.

Speaking at the event, CM Gandapur also revealed that a comprehensive data-gathering initiative is underway to identify more underprivileged individuals throughout KP. “This is just the start,” the Chief Minister remarked, assuring that the range and reach of the welfare programmes will steadily broaden.

Among other measures, Gandapur mentioned that electric wheelchairs are being allocated to people with disabilities, including students with special needs. The Sehat Card health insurance plan has also been expanded to encompass major medical procedures like implants and organ transplants, with bone marrow, kidney, and liver transplants now offered free of cost within the province.

In a major development, the government has raised the dowry assistance fund from Rs20,000 to Rs200,000, targeting 4,000 financially challenged girls for marriage assistance this year. “We are committed to spending public funds on the public,” the CM stated, noting that the province has secured billions in additional income by sealing revenue loopholes, without introducing new taxes.

Wrapping up his address, CM Gandapur stressed the value of economic independence, emphasizing that a nation burdened by loans can neither hold its head high nor safeguard its sovereignty. “We aim to build the kind of nation our forefathers envisioned and sacrificed for,” he said.
