Islamabad, May 28, 2025: In response to multiple windstorms causing damage across the federal capital, the Islamabad district administration has started removing billboards across the city to avoid any further accidents.
This precautionary step follows the collapse of a billboard at the National Press Club (NPC) during heavy winds on Tuesday. The winds also brought down trees and tore fiberglass shades from rooftops and balconies, some pieces landing dangerously on nearby roads.
Deputy Commissioner Irfan Nawaz Memon has now directed that all billboards within Islamabad’s municipal limits be removed. Though prominent billboard placements currently exist mainly near the NPC and along Srinagar Highway in the G-13 area, several unregulated ones are also installed in outer rural regions, areas still under the deputy commissioner’s jurisdiction.
Following the latest storm, the district administration directed field teams to remain vigilant and handle emergencies swiftly. Assistant commissioners have also been asked to monitor low-lying parts of the city to reduce the risk of flash floods and drainage issues.

Another strong storm followed soon after, sparking growing concern among residents about the frequency of such natural disruptions.
