Islamabad, 29 May 2025: Karachi Heatwave conditions have prompted the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) to issue a public health alert as the city faces intense heat with daytime temperatures exceeding 40 degrees Celsius.

The current weather pattern has heightened concerns about heatstroke and related illnesses, particularly among vulnerable populations.

The advisory follows a spike in humidity, which reached 61 percent midweek, coupled with a disruption in the cooling sea breeze an unusual combination that has amplified the discomfort across the city.

he PMD has urged residents to limit outdoor activities, remain indoors during peak sun hours, and stay hydrated to avoid heat-induced complications.

Officials from the department indicated that hot, dry winds from the southeast moving at speeds of 25 to 35 km/h—are expected to persist throughout the day. While a slight recovery of the sea breeze may occur by evening, the overall forecast offers little relief.

Skies are expected to remain clear, with no rain in sight for Karachi over the next several days, sustaining the Karachi Heatwave.

Elsewhere in the country, similar weather trends are being reported. Southern parts of Sindh and Balochistan are grappling with continuing heatwave conditions.

In Punjab, scorching temperatures dominate, although intermittent rain showers are projected for select areas later in the day. Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has also experienced high temperatures, with rainfall likely in some northern districts.

Meanwhile, Islamabad is forecast to stay hot and dry during daylight hours, with possible rain and gusty winds arriving by evening.
