Islamabad, May 29, 2025: The Ministry of Railways has held a meeting for major reforms ahead of the upcoming budget, with a strong focus on digital transformation and infrastructure improvement.
Federal Minister for Railways, Muhammad Hanif Abbasi, shared that his goal of fully digitizing the entire railway system. He confirmed a detailed framework for the years 2025 to 2030 has been finalized to guide this vision forward.
He stated that the new budget will give special attention to upgrading railway infrastructure. The minister further said that projects under Government-to-Government and Public-Private Partnership models will also be added to strengthen cooperation and bring in more investment.
He further confirmed that funds will be set aside to expand the e-ticketing system. The railway’s mobile app, which helps passengers stay connected, will also be improved using allocated budget resources.

In addition, attention will be given to the branding and development of railway stations, footbridges, and key bridges across the country. Moreover, there will be a focus on training railway staff and supporting skill-building programs so that workers can adapt to new systems.

The minister also said that steps will be taken to promote directness and ensure more people can benefit from digital tools. For this, proper resources will be provided to track and monitor all key projects effectively.
This effort marks a clear move towards a modern, digital, and more efficient railway service that aims to serve the public better.
