Islamabad, 30 May 2025: Disrupt Air Traffic Adverse weather conditions have caused significant disruption to domestic and international air travel across Pakistan, with multiple flights either diverted, delayed, or cancelled, according to the Pakistan Airports Authority (PAA).
This latest weather disturbance has raised concerns about operational reliability at major airports, particularly in Islamabad.
Multiple Flights Rerouted Amid Torrential Rainfall
Due to heavy rainfall and poor visibility in Islamabad, several flights were forced to change course or return to origin before departure.

The Pakistan Airports Authority confirmed that flight ANK-586, scheduled to take off from Islamabad, had to return to the gate before departure because of intense rain.
In another case, flight FJL672, which had departed from Karachi for Islamabad, was redirected to Sialkot, as landing conditions in the capital deteriorated.
A similar decision was made for flight ABQ217, arriving from Dubai, which was also diverted to Sialkot, highlighting the severe impact of the weather system on incoming routes.
Delays and Cancellations Continue to Disrupt Air Traffic
Adding to the chaos, flight PK370 from Karachi to Islamabad was compelled to land in Faisalabad, bypassing its intended destination entirely due to ongoing weather challenges, PAA reported.
Meanwhile, flight PK451, which was bound for Skardu from Islamabad, had to be cancelled, further affecting travel plans for northern-bound passengers.
The authority further mentioned that flight PK234, arriving from Dubai and originally scheduled to land in Skardu, had to be rerouted to Islamabad instead.
Aircraft Shortage Adds to Flight Delays
Not all delays were solely attributed to weather. The Pakistan Airports Authority stated that flight ABQ25, scheduled from Islamabad to Skardu, was delayed owing to the unavailability of aircraft, compounding the operational difficulties already caused by the weather.
Travel Advisory for Passengers
Passengers planning to fly into or out of Islamabad and surrounding regions have been strongly advised to check with airlines for the latest updates before heading to the airport.

As of now, meteorological reports suggest no immediate relief from the inclement weather, indicating that further disruptions could occur if conditions fail to improve.
