Islamabad, May 30, 2025: In a landmark move, The Walt Disney Company in partnership with Miral has announced plans to build its first Middle Eastern theme park resort on Yas Island in Abu Dhabi. This would be Disney’s seventh resort worldwide and its debut venture into the Arab world.
The new attraction will be more than just a replica of Disneyland parks elsewhere. Given the region’s extreme summer temperatures, the park is expected to be the first fully climate-controlled Disney resort offering year-round comfort in a custom-built indoor environment. Unlike the open-air parks in Florida or Paris, this one will respond directly to the desert setting while staying true to Disney’s brand.
The project is being developed in partnership with Miral, the local firm behind major Yas Island destinations like SeaWorld, Warner Bros. World, and Ferrari World. Disney’s own Imagineering team will oversee the creative design and help ensure a balance between regional identity and global appeal. The aim, according to both sides, is to create a “uniquely Emirati” version of Disney magic.

The UAE’s leadership sees this as a strategic investment. As the country moves to reduce its reliance on oil, tourism has become a central pillar of its economic vision. With over 120 million annual visitors passing through nearby airports, the Disney resort could become a major magnet for international guests.

Design elements are expected to reflect local traditions, with Arabian-inspired architecture, Arabic signage, and music drawn from regional styles. Plans also include themed hotels, retail spaces, and dining experiences, all under one roof.
The project will roll out in stages over the next several years, gradually unveiling themed areas and attractions. Once completed, Disney’s Yas Island park could redefine family entertainment in the region.
