Islamabad, 31 May 2025: New Rs2.3B Flyover construction along Adiala Road is approaching the final phase, with completion expected by June 3.
Officials plan to open it to the public in time for Eid-ul-Adha, aiming to reduce congestion in the city during the busy holiday period.
During a recent visit to the site, Rawalpindi Commissioner Aamir Khattak reviewed the progress alongside Additional Deputy Commissioner General Hassaan Tariq and engineers from the Communication and Works Department.
The team was informed that approximately 98% of the structure had already been built, and the remaining work was proceeding according to schedule.

Commissioner Khattak expressed that completing the New Rs2.3B Flyover on time was essential to improving daily traffic flow in the area.
He stressed that the project should prioritise public ease, construction quality, transparency, and worker safety. The administration, he said, remained committed to ensuring all development projects in the region moved forward without unnecessary delay.
The flyover, named after former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, is set to become a key traffic corridor in Rawalpindi. Authorities believe it will help streamline movement along one of the city’s busiest roads, offering long-term relief to commuters.
During his site inspection, the commissioner interacted with labourers and the contractor, advising them to continue adhering to safety protocols and maintain working conditions that support both speed and worker wellbeing. He reiterated that any carelessness or delays would not be tolerated by the district administration.

Highlighting broader goals, Mr Khattak added that Punjab’s development efforts were being accelerated through the efficient use of government resources. He also noted that officials are actively supervising every public infrastructure initiative to ensure consistent progress.
With only a few final touches remaining, the New Rs2.3B Flyover stands as a visible sign of Rawalpindi’s changing infrastructure one that residents hope will bring lasting traffic relief just in time for the Eid festivities.
