Islamabad, 31 May 2025: Govt Crackdown Intensifies as the third key session of the Counter-Terrorism Committee and the Harden the State Committee convened in Islamabad under the chairmanship of Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi.
During the meeting, participants resolved to ramp up operations targeting foreign nationals residing unlawfully in Pakistan. It was reported that NADRA will now offer real-time data verification at exit points to support this initiative.
Minister Naqvi stressed that the One Document System must be enforced uniformly across all relevant institutions. He urged both federal and provincial bodies to work in unison to eliminate illegal networks operating within the country.

The session also addressed concerns about organised begging, with Naqvi calling for it to be made a non-bailable offence, arguing that the so-called “beggar mafia” was tarnishing the country’s image.
Govt Crackdown Intensifies in other areas as well. Officials noted that over 250 intelligence-driven operations are being carried out daily.
Collaborative efforts between the Ministry of Interior and provincial governments have reportedly led to the recovery of Rs142 billion in power theft cases, according to a briefing by the Ministry of Energy. Full support is being extended to provinces to curb electricity theft.
The meeting also evaluated progress on multiple fronts, including anti-encroachment efforts and the creation of the Pakistan Port Authority.
Updates were shared on Gwadar’s Safe City initiative and the construction of a protective boundary wall. Development of digital enforcement stations along the Indus River and the introduction of an intelligent transport system for better surveillance of motorways and highways were also reviewed.
In efforts to tackle fuel smuggling, discussions were held on digitising petrol stations. Under newly introduced legislation, authorities such as Customs and Deputy Commissioners will be authorised to seal fuel stations and confiscate vehicles involved in smuggling.

Govt Crackdown Intensifies was underscored by the presence of key figures at the meeting, including Minister of State for Interior Talal Chaudhry, Punjab Law Minister Sohaib Ahmed Bharat, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Information Advisor Barrister Muhammad Ali Saif, and the Interior Minister of Gilgit-Baltistan.
Senior officials from all provinces, including the IGs of Police, Interior Secretaries, the DG FIA, the National Coordinator of NACTA, and representatives from the National Action Plan and other security agencies, were also in attendance.
