Islamabad, 31 May 2025: The federal government has officially approved a Four-Day Eid-ul-Adha Holiday, beginning on Friday, June 6, and continuing through Monday, June 9.
This announcement aligns with nationwide plans to observe the religious festival, one of the most significant events in the Islamic calendar.
Reports from local media indicated that the decision was confirmed by the Prime Minister, who granted approval for the holiday period.
The declaration means that all public and private offices, schools, colleges, and banks across Pakistan will remain closed during the four days.

The extended break has been introduced to allow citizens sufficient time to take part in Eid rituals, spend time with their families, and travel if needed.
The announcement follows confirmation by the Ruet-e-Hilal Committee, which observed the Zilhajj moon on May 27.
The committee’s chairman, Maulana Abdul Khabir Azad, stated that Eidul Azha would officially be celebrated across the country on Saturday, June 7.
This confirmation sets the religious calendar in motion and allows millions across the nation to prepare for the annual sacrificial tradition.
Eid-ul-Adha, also known as the Festival of Sacrifice, commemorates the willingness of Prophet Ibrahim (AS) to sacrifice his son in obedience to God’s command.

It also marks the conclusion of the annual Hajj pilgrimage in Makkah, which is a central pillar of Islam and an obligation for those financially and physically capable.
The Four-Day Eid-ul-Adha Holiday provides time for families to perform the Qurbani (ritual sacrifice), distribute meat to the needy, and engage in prayers and community gatherings.
