Islamabad, June 2, 2025: The federal government has finalized the Annual Development Plan (ADP) for the upcoming fiscal year, including recommendations for economic targets and a proposed allocation of over Rs. 4 trillion for the national development budget.
According to sources, GDP growth is proposed at 4.2%, with inflation targeted at 7.5%. The agricultural sector is expected to grow by 4.5%, while the industrial and services sectors are projected to grow by 4.3% and 4.7% respectively.
The Annual Plan Coordination Committee (APCC) is set to give the final shape to the national development programme in a crucial meeting today, which will be chaired by Federal Minister for Planning Ahsan Iqbal. Top officials from all four provinces, Azad Jammu & Kashmir, and Gilgit-Baltistan will participate in the session.
The federal Public Sector Development Programme (PSDP) is estimated to be around Rs. 1,050 billion. For the provinces, a combined development budget of over Rs. 2,800 billion is proposed, with Punjab expected to receive Rs. 1,192 billion, Sindh Rs. 887 billion, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Rs. 440 billion, and Balochistan Rs. 280 billion.

Key proposed allocations include Rs. 259 billion for water and power projects, Rs. 229 billion for the National Highway Authority, Rs. 35 billion for Diamer-Bhasha Dam, and Rs. 42 billion for education and health initiatives.
The final approval of the National Development Programme will be given by the National Economic Council (NEC), which is scheduled to meet under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on June 6.
