ISLAMABAD, June 2, 2025: With Eid-ul-Adha approaching, and the soaring temperatures across country, there are concerns with regards to heavy thunderstorms or heatwaves during Eid holidays.

In this regard, the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) has issued a weather alert from June 2 till 7. The authority predicts hot and dry weather to prevails in most parts of the country during this time.
Rain with thundershowers is likely at various places in Potohar, South and North-East Punjab, including Rawalpindi, Attock, Chakwal, Jhelum, and Lahore.
Rain with thundershowers is likely in the northern districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa including Chitral, Dir, Swat, Kohistan, Shangla, Malakand, Abbottabad, Kurram.
In Gilgit-Baltistan, Gilgit, Skardu, Hunza and Azad Jammu and Kashmir, Muzaffarabad and Mirpur will be partly cloudy, while rain is likely at a few places.
The weather is likely to be hot and dry in Balochistan including Quetta, Turbat, Gwadar, Khuzdar and Zhob.
The weather is also likely to be hot and dry in Karachi, Hyderabad, Sukkur, Larkana and Mirpurkhas.
NDMA urges the public to be careful during storms and heavy rains, and avoid traveling in areas at risk of rain.
The advisory issued along with the weather alert also recommends to stay away from weak structures, trees and billboards during strong winds and storms.
The Pak NDMA Disaster Alert App can be used to stay aware of the weather and possible hazards.
PDMA PUNJAB ALSO ISSUES AN ALERT
Strong winds, dusty winds and rain are predicted in most districts of Punjab from June 2 till 5, Punjab’s Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) said in a statement on Monday.
Rain with strong winds is predicted in Rawalpindi, Murree, Galiat, Attock, Chakwal, Mandi Bahauddin, Gujrat, Jhelum, and Gujranwala.
From June 2 till 4, there is also a possibility of rain in Lahore, Kasur, Sialkot, Narowal, Okara, Faisalabad, Toba Tek Singh, Jhang, Khushab, Sargodha and Mianwali. South Punjab is also likely to receive rain during this time, especially Multan, Dera Ghazi Khan, Bahawalpur and Bahawalnagar.
The intensity of heat and heat wave will decrease due to the series of rains.
An alert has also been issued to the district administration in this regard. The departments of health, irrigation, construction and communications, local government and livestock have also been made aware of the expected weather conditions.

Citizens are requested to take precautionary measures in bad weather conditions, and stay in safe places to protect themselves from lightning.
