Islamabad, June 3, 2025: UFC Vegas 107 took a dramatic turn Saturday when Maycee Barber was rushed to the hospital moments before her scheduled walkout, leading to the cancellation of her main event against Erin Blanchfield.
The abrupt withdrawal, due to a sudden health issue, came just a day after Barber missed weight by 0.5 pounds, tipping the scale at 126.5 lbs.
Initially frustrated, Blanchfield criticized Barber as unprofessional but later clarified her remarks during The Ariel Helwani Show. She noted that while medical emergencies are unpredictable, Barber’s conduct during weigh-ins and refusal to make another attempt to cut weight were what she found unprofessional. This was the second time the bout had fallen through, as Barber had previously pulled out of their UFC 269 meeting in 2021 due to an ankle injury.
Blanchfield, 26, expressed disappointment not only in missing the fight but also in how the situation was handled. She believed Barber should have informed the UFC earlier about her condition, which could have allowed for a replacement opponent or backup plan. Still reeling from the emotional fallout, Blanchfield admitted the cancellation hit harder after realizing she wouldn’t compete despite her preparations.

Barber later apologized on social media, stating the incident was out of her control and denying her life was chaotic. Though Blanchfield accepted the apology, she felt it should’ve come sooner, especially after the weight miss.

Despite not competing, Blanchfield received both her show and win purses, along with 20% of Maycee Barber fight earnings. Now setting her sights forward, she hopes for matchups against contenders like Natalia Silva or former champ Alexa Grasso, continuing her push for a title shot.
Blanchfield said she had expected Barber to come out aggressively and was prepared to outlast her in later rounds — a strategy that will remain untested.
