Islamabad, June 4, 2025: The Punjab government has officially launched the registration process for its E-Taxi initiative, under Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz’s “Green and Clean Transport” policy.

This initial phase, jointly run by the Transport and Mass Transit Department and the Bank of Punjab, aims to roll out electric taxis in Lahore to provide a safer, cost-effective, and eco-friendly public transport option.

The department has invited Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs), authorized dealerships, distributors, and joint ventures to submit eligible electric car models that match the technical criteria needed for taxi use. Approved entries will form a shortlist of vehicles that meet the essential safety, performance, and operational benchmarks.

Interested parties must deliver their applications and required paperwork to the Transport and Mass Transit Department at 11-A Egerton Road, Lahore, no later than 11:00 AM on Tuesday, June 24, 2025.

To promote the shift toward electric mobility, the government is also offering a support package that includes help with down payments, bank-backed financing over five years, and partial coverage of vehicle registration fees.
