Islamabad, June 5, 2025: Following deadly storms that recently claimed around 20 lives across Punjab, provincial authorities have introduced new safety rules for solar panel installations.
According to the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA), out of 124 incidents reported during the thunderstorm on May 24, more than 70% were linked to solar panels or associated structures.
“During the thunderstorm on May 24, there were 124 small and large accidents in Punjab,” Mazhar Hussain said.
“When this was analysed, it was revealed that over 70 per cent of the accidents have been caused by solar panels or related structures,” said PDMA spokesperson Mazhar Hussain while speaking to Arab News.
