Rising Temperatures, Widening Impact

The PMD stated that the impact of the hot weather system will begin escalating from Friday, June 7, reaching broader regions by Saturday, and is expected to persist through Wednesday, June 12.

Forecast models indicate that central and northern Punjab, Islamabad, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Gilgit-Baltistan, and Azad Kashmir will experience sustained and unusually high temperatures throughout this phase.

The weather forecast also includes warnings of dust storms and strong winds across the plains, triggered by prolonged heat conditions.

The general public particularly children, senior citizens, and women have been advised to minimize exposure to direct sunlight, avoid outdoor activities during peak hours, and consume extra fluids to prevent dehydration.

Guidance for Farmers and Authorities

In addition to health advisories, farmers have been urged to adjust their field operations based on the projected temperature surge.

The department has also flagged concerns over accelerated glacial melt in northern areas, warning that this could lead to fluctuating water availability downstream, especially in the Indus basin region.
