Islamabad, June 8, 2025: The Mercedes-Benz G-Class needs no introduction. With its distinctive boxy shape and elite aura, it remains a symbol of power and prestige, staying loyal to its original design since launching in 1979. While globally admired for decades, it’s only in recent years that the Mercedes-Benz G-Wagon has started making a strong impression in Pakistan, especially on the streets of Lahore, Karachi, and Islamabad.
Previously a rare sight, the G-Class has become more prominent over the past three years as affluent individuals continue to import these rugged yet extravagant SUVs. Each appearance draws plenty of attention online and in public—after all, few vehicles turn heads quite like a G-Wagon.
However, the price tag of a G-Wagon in Pakistan is in an entirely different league. While it goes for around $186,100 (about Rs5.2 crore) in the US, Pakistani buyers pay significantly more—often three to four times higher—because of steep import tariffs and taxes placed on high-end vehicles.
Why the Surge in G-Wagon Popularity?
Mercedes has always enjoyed a premium reputation in Pakistan, with models like the C-Class, E-Class, and S-Class widely recognized. But the G-Class—especially performance versions like the AMG G63 or the electric G580 EQ—has carved out a dedicated fan base.
Its appeal doesn’t lie in off-road performance alone. It’s the mix of classic strength and modern elegance that attracts elite buyers. From showbiz personalities to business moguls, the G-Wagon is now seen as the SUV of choice for those who want to stand out.
This trend mirrors the rise of auto enthusiasm in Pakistan. Spotting a G-Wagon might no longer be shocking, but it’s still uncommon enough to draw admiration. With private imports rising, Google searches for its cost are surging too.
How Much Does a G-Wagon Cost in Pakistan?
The numbers are staggering. A 2024 G580 EQ—the electric variant—is listed for a whopping Rs11.5 crore. Want a petrol engine instead? A 2020 G63 AMG is selling for nearly Rs18 crore. That’s equivalent to the cost of about 20 brand-new Honda Civic Oriel units or 12 Toyota Fortuners.
Even an older G63, five years down the line, still commands more than most brand-new premium sedans.
Prices vary based on version, model year, and vehicle condition, but one thing’s clear: it ranks among the priciest SUVs on sale in the country.
Pricier Than the S-Class
Interestingly, the G-Class costs far more than the luxury S-Class saloon in Pakistan. For context, a 2019 Mercedes S 560 e is going for about Rs7.5 crore, while a 2014 S63 AMG is valued around Rs9.5 crore. Even the 2022 EQS electric sedan can be found for Rs4 crore.
Yet none of these match the fame and desirability of the G-Wagon. Despite its sky-high price, it remains the top choice for those looking to make a bold statement.

Advice for Potential Buyers
If you’re considering purchasing one, it’s essential to verify the vehicle’s details. Always inspect the Vehicle Identification Number (VIN), a 17-character code that helps confirm the car’s origin and registration history—especially vital for costly imports.
Although the cost of owning a Mercedes-Benz G-Wagon in Pakistan may appear excessive, for those who can afford it, it represents more than a vehicle—it’s a way of life. Whether it’s the G63 or the all-electric G580 EQ, the G-Class continues to lead the luxury SUV space, one striking drive at a time.
