Islamabad, June 9, 2025: Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has rejected all proposals to increase taxes, directing authorities instead to expand the provincial tax net. During a recent high-level meeting, Maryam Nawaz emphasized that unnecessary financial pressure on the public would not be tolerated.

“It will not be allowed that those who register are punished while tax evaders continue to enjoy luxuries,” she remarked. Highlighting the need for tax equity, she said, “We don’t want to burden the common man. A person earning Rs. 200,000 a month pays taxes, while someone earning millions avoids it — this is unacceptable.”
