Islamabad, 10 June 2025: As Eid al-Adha approaches, many Islamabad residents are no doubt envisioning celebratory Post-Adha BBQs in the city’s picturesque green areas and the stunning Margalla Hills. However, the District Administration has issued a stern reminder: such plans are strictly prohibited.

Under Section 144 of the criminal procedure code, an unequivocal ban is now in force on all barbecue activities within the designated green belts and the Margalla Hills National Park.

This directive, aimed at preserving the environment and preventing fire hazards, means that those charcoal grills and skewers will have to find a different venue this festive season.

Furthermore, the prohibition extends beyond just barbecuing. The District Administration has also explicitly forbidden bonfires in these aforementioned locales, again citing Section 144.

This comprehensive restriction underscores the authorities’ commitment to safeguarding Islamabad’s natural beauty and ensuring public safety.

The notification, issued by the Additional Deputy Commissioner General, clearly states that any transgression of these Section 144 dictates will result in stringent legal action.
