Islamabad, June 10, 2025: The government is launching a strict crackdown on unregistered businesses, Finance Minister revealed. Offenders may face severe penalties, including freezing of bank accounts and restrictions on property transfers. In some cases, businesses operating without registration may even be sealed.

The finance minister confirmed that those penalized will have the right to appeal within 30 days and will be granted a fair hearing. In an effort to bring more transparency and accountability, digital income will now be taxed, and foreign service providers offering goods or services to Pakistan must pay a 5% tax.

Furthermore, all items without barcodes will be immediately confiscated, as part of efforts to regulate trade and eliminate smuggling, particularly of tobacco products.
