Islamabad, June 11, 2025: Cricket Australia’s Big Bash League (BBL) chief, Alistair Dobson, has spoken highly of Pakistan’s star performers Shaheen Shah Afridi and Mohammad Rizwan, both of whom feature in the overseas player nominations for the 15th BBL season, set to be held on June 19.
In a formal comment, Dobson expressed genuine excitement about the growing international interest in the league.
“Having household names such as Shaheen Afridi, Mohammad Rizwan, Heather Knight and Sophie Ecclestone nominate demonstrates the continuing appeal of the Big Bash Leagues to some of the world’s best players,” Dobson remarked.
He further added, “We are very excited by the nominations for the Big Bash Leagues drafts including some global superstars who will add enormous intrigue as the clubs compete for the best available talent.”

Discussing the league’s scheduling, Dobson mentioned the decision to hold the draft earlier than usual, outlining the benefits of this move.
“Bringing the draft forward will provide more certainty for the clubs as they build their lists and give fans an early insight into the stars who will wear their team’s colours,” he explained.
